That is the place to gather the second largest Muslim in the world. Almost 1 million Muslims gather here every year. Muslims all over the world come to Bangladesh for ijtema. Istima happens here 2 times in a year. Second one happens ten days after the first one. After all, this is the most peaceful place in Bangladesh.

One of the worst places in Bangladesh. I'm stuck in traffic as i text this review, i had to walk two hours because of the annual gathering here today which is extremely crowded, very poorly maintained field and due to its existence right beside the main highway road it makes traveling as difficult as hell.

The Bishwa Ijtema is an annual gathering of Muslims in Tongi, by the banks of the River Turag, in the outskirts of Dhaka, Bangladesh. It is one of the largest peaceful gatherings in the world. The Ijtema is non-political and therefore it draws people of all persuasion. It is attended by devotees from 150 countries. The majority of its devotees come from across Bangladesh, the world's third largest Muslim majority country. Speakers include Islamic scholars from various countries. Bishwa Ijtema is now the largest Islamic gatherings with 5 million adherents , surpassing the 2-3 million worshipers that perform the Hajj in Saudi Arabia (which is one of the five pillars of Islam for Sunni Muslims). The Bangladeshi Ijtema is a modern event where Muslim participation is voluntary. Ijtema is an Arabic word which means public gathering. In Bengali, the event is known as the "Bishwa Ijtema". Bishwa is a Bengali word which means world.
