Jubilee High School Patuakhali Govt. Jubilee High School is one of the oldest and most famous schools in Bangladesh. It is situated in the heart of Patuakhali district known as daughter of sea. It is a seat of education that possesses a long, pleasing and glorious history. In the south-west part of our country it is regarded as an ideal institution. This is the pioneering high school and the first brick-built structure of Patuakhali. Among the people who contributed to the foundation of the school, the mentionable ones are: Swargio Braja Mohon Datta, Nabin Chandra Sen, Umesh Chandra Das Gupta, Axmoy Kumar Dey, etc. The previous name of this school was Patuakhali Entrance School which was established in 1876 near the present post office and the school was made of “Golpata” on the land donated by Axmoy Kumar Dey. The school started functioning under the Headmastership of the honourary Magistrate Ras Ranjan Sen. The present school place was then used for cultivation. In 1884 the then SDO, Mr. Foyz Uddin Hossen, allotted the place for school from the owner of the land and made a one storeyed building consisting of eight rooms. In 1887 the Great Queen Victoria of Great Britain observed the Golden Jubilee of her ascension to the throne. Then the “Golpata” made school was shifted to the newly constructed building and as a memorandum of that ceremony, it was named Patuakhali Jubilee High English School. The then Indian Government vested the school to the Education Department in 1912 and the school got permanent approval of Calcutta University in 1917. In 1951 the school again got permanent recognition of Dhaka Board during the reign of the then Pakistan Government. The school was included in the Uplift Scheme and Multilateral Scheme in 1952 and 1962 successively. On 15 November 1968, the school was absorbed as a government school and named as Patuakhali Govt. Jubilee High School. The result of the school is very bright from the the establishment.
