Even today, the 200-year-old Kaitala zamindar's kachari house stands as a witness of tomorrow. The kachari is the place for settling disputes, the court or civil and criminal office, in simple words the kachari house is the office of the zamindar's naib. The name of the zamindar of Kaitla was Bishwanath Roy Chowdhury. He had three sons- Tilak Chandra Roy Chowdhury, Abhay Chandra Roy Chowdhury, Ishan Chandra Roy Chowdhury. It is said that Bishwanath Roy Chowdhury came from Shimgaon in Kolkata, West Bengal and settled in Kaitla. At one time there was a dance hall in the zamindar's house. Baiji's meeting used to take place at night. Payal's jhumjhum, anklet's nikkan, the sound of enchanting laughter would come from the inner court. The mahout would come out riding like a mad elephant, the bell of the court would ring, the whole house was full of pike-pawns. But today the wealth of the zamindar is gone, there is no splendor of any wealth, the inscriptions written on the ancient stone are eroding, today everything is a memory of the past. However, some of the development of the area during the zamindar period can be seen somewhere. The western part of Ballavpur village is named 'Abhaynagar' after Abhay Chandra Roy Chowdhury, 'Ishan Nagar' is named after Ishan Roy Chowdhury and 'Kaitla Jageshwar High School' is named after his son Jageshwar Roy. And there is a 40-acre lake named after Sukhmani Roy, the wife of Yajneshwar. The name of the lake is 'Sukh Sagar' lake. There is a pond next to the zamindar's house. Its name is 'Andha Pukur'. There are various legends surrounding this blind pond where there are gold and silver pitchers, chests of stones and hidden treasures. It was not possible to excavate the renovation of the blind pond even in a hundred years. Because its black sparkling water is full of snakes. It is said that snakes are the guardians of hidden treasures. In the course of time, the memory of the zamindar is disappearing.
