This Cemetery was created by the British Army. There were originally about 400 war graves situated here. There are now 731 Commonwealth war graves from the Second World War here. Visitors can also visit the Chittagong/Bombay Memorial 1939-1945 on this cemetery. This cemetery is situated in the heart of the city of Chittagong. Easily accessible from main road. Public can visit this cemetery. Unfortunately, there are no washroom for travelers. Graves are from: United Kingdom - 378 Canada - 25 Australia - 9 New Zealand - 2 Undivided India - 214 East Africa - 11 West Africa - 90 Burma - 2

Chittagong War Cemetery is a Commonwealth War Graves Commission cemetery in Chittagong, Bangladesh. this war cemetery established after world war ll and maintained by Commonwealth. 715 burials from 6 different counties and 15 unknown graves here. UK – 471 India – 207 Canada – 25 Australia – 9 Newzland – 2 Netherlands – 1 Unknown– 17 this place is very well organized and maintained. neat and clean.

Chittagong War Cemetery Location: Dampara, Chittagong City Corporation Brief Description: Chittagong war cemetery is a burial ground for the soldiers who died during 2nd world war. There are about 755 graves at this war cemetery. Most of the soldiers buried there were from United Kingdom-378, Canada-25, Australia-09, New Zealand-02, Undivided India-214, East Africa-11, West Africa-90, Myanmar-02, Netherlands-01, Japan-19 and Non-soldiers-04. It is maintained by Commonwealth Grave Commission. How to Go: There are so many buses approaching to Chittagong from Dhaka. Among those buses, Shohagh Paribahan, Green Line, TR Travels & Saudia are dependable to go Chittagong. From Chittagong bus stand, you may ride on an auto rickshaw to reach at Chittagong War Cemetery.

What a peaceful place to be! The War Cemetery at Chittagong 1939 -1945 Unfortunately the authority doesn't allow people to be inside the cemetery for the last 6 months as they (visitors) don't visit with responsibility, which results decreasing of the peace and it's beauties....
