Memorial to the 1969 mass uprising. It has been named in memory of Shaheed Asad. The former name was Ayub Gate.
Initially known as Ayub Gate, it was renamed as Asad Gate after Asad, a martyr who was shot dead by Pakistani Police during the 1969 mass protest against Ayub Khan, the then president of Pakistan (Bangladesh was known as East Pakistan during that time, a province of Pakistan)
not so bad
Previously known as Ayub Gate. Now a prominent location/landmark in Dhaka city.
Historical memories along with nice view.
good morning Asad Ave
It is a historic monument. But now there is a sculpture in front of the monument. There is not enough light on the street for the night. This is an important road. Parliament is located just opposite this memorial.
