Beginning in the year 1925, many Bengali Christians from Bhawal areas of the Archdiocese of Dhaka started migrating to the greater districts of Pabna and Rajshahi in search of land and their economic amelioration. For their pastoral care, St. Rita’s Catholic Church (Mothurapur Parish) was established in 1945 AD. Mothurapur had belonged to the Archdiocese of Dhaka till 1976. when it was transferred to the Diocese of Dinajpur. On May 21, 1990, the Diocese of Rajshahi was canonically erected incorporating within its territory the southern portion of the greater Diocese of Dinajpur. Almost 2.5K no. of Catholics live in this area (Mothurapur Parish). Currently, this parish is operating by Diocesan Missionary. Current Priest: Fr. Dilip S. Costa and Fr. Uttom J. Rozario. Here is a Primary School and a Secondary School too named St. Rita's High School (1989) (সেন্ট রিটাস উচ্চ বিদ্যালয়) managed by the SMRA Missionary. The area of this Church is quite large. It's quiet and beautiful that makes a man to think the place "House of God". Loved the place.
