The USET has been designed to satisfy the present Government’s strategies in higher education sector to build skilled manpower in Meghna-Gumuti region. Its temporary campus is located at Signboard at present, corner of Dhaka-Narayanganj Link Road. Higher education facilities will be provided at Meghna and surrounding Upazilas when permanent campus established in five years’ time. The USET’s catchment includes seven Upazilas located in and around the mightily rivers Meghna and Gumuti and their tributaries. These are Meghna, Homna, Titash, Muradnagar, Daudkandi, Motlab North and Gazaria. This is a unique region of the nation some part of which goes under water every year for four to six months and is very rich in sweet water natural fish population serving the Dhaka city every morning in all seasons. Thus, the USET has set the goals to develop this backward rural region to create young skilled workforce for nation building to strengthen liberation principles and independence meaningful so much so that our father of the nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, wished.
