AHF chief executive Tayyab Ikram came up with the announcement at a press conference at Maulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium on Saturday. “With the successful hosting of the Hero Asia Cup, Dhaka is now a fully recognised international venue. I would like to say that Dhaka can look forward to host more international tourneys in future,” said the chief executive. Ikram also pledged that Bangladesh will be invited for the umpiring courses, technical delegates’ programme, training workshop for coaches and other technical assistance programmes. “Bangladesh should come forward to support these initiatives,” he added. Tayyab appreciated the Bangladeshi government for providing financial support for hockey in the past. “I hope the government will continue its support to uplift the development and the promotion of the game in Bangladesh,” he added.

Its a memorable Stadium for me. Because I play Cricket in this Hockey stadium!!! It was Dhaka Reporters Unity Media cup cricket!!! The artificial turf is very nice. Nice sitting arrangement. But hockey is not so popular in Bangladesh, so that the Gallery remain empty throughout the year....
